Phi Phi Island - Krabi, Thailand
Introduction to Phi Phi Island

The Famous Phi Phi Islands are situated in the Marine National Park, South West of the mainland coastline of Krabi, in Southern Thailand. Here the dramatic Island landscape features sheer limestone cliffs and hidden caves. Without question, an Island paradise and one of the most beautiful destinations in the world.
This is a location for relaxed enjoyment around the Islands fine sandy beaches and in the warm, crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea. An ideal destination for family holidays, or for the younger set, looking for adventure and excitement.
About Phi Phi Island

There are two islands in this group, Phi Phi Don to the north and Phi Phi Leh, just five kilometres by boat, to the South.
Phi Phi Don offers numerous types of accommodation, from beach huts to top class, 5 star Hotel Resorts. You can see from the map that resorts are scattered around the Island in numerous Bays, with a concentration at the two main beaches of Ao Ton Sai and Ao Loh Dalam. Getting around is easy by foot or Thailand’s water taxi, the long-tail boat.
Around the Coast in the daytime, the surrounding reefs and coral formations provide excellent clear visibility, for scuba diving and snorkelling. There are plenty of dive companies here for the experienced to tour with and enjoy the deeper reefs and less accessible areas. Or, if you are not yet qualified, but have the time, take a diving school course and join in with the fun, just off the beach.
Phi Phi Leh by contrast, is uninhabited but was the base for the popular film with Leonardo di Caprio called, ‘The Beach’. Here there are beautiful bays dotted amongst the limestone cliffs, offering shallow water snorkelling and fun for all the family.
A feature of the Island is the prehistoric Viking Cave with its ancient paintings providing proof of early civilisation. The Chinese delicacy, Birds Nest Soup, is made from nests built by the small Swallow birds that frequent the region. These are collected by the local Thai people, by climbing bamboo poles. You can visit the caves yourself and see how dangerous this is.
